News - Shopify has added in-cart subscription option

November 2nd, 2020. Shopify, a member of our ecommerce platform shortlist, today announced it is has added the option for merchants to configure an in-cart subscription option. This new feature allows merchants to offer customers the option, during checkout, to upgrade a one-time purchase into a regular subscription.

The global market for subscription and recurring payments is expected to grow to $425bn by 2025, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 68% from 2019.

At the same time Shopify is also providing the option to configure upsells during the checkout process, for example to add an accessory during the checkout of a consumer electronics item.
