Ucommerce releases v9.4, enhancing scalability, search

March 4th, 2021. Ucommerce, a member of our ecommerce platform shortlist in the "regional" category, has released version 9.4 of its software - a headless ecommerce platform with strong support for storefronts built using CMS solutions Sitecore, Sitefinity and Umbraco.

Version 9.4 provides the management tooling required to administer efficiently up to thousands of storefronts covering both B2C and B2B channels.

Updates have been made to the search engine to allow merchants with heavy peak traffic and large product catalogs to use Elasticsearch (and multiple instances if required) and retain low response times during periods of high traffic. The architecture allows merchants to scale their front-end CMS instances separately from Elasticsearch instances, to reduce software licensing costs. The functionality in the search engine includes typeahead search and faceted search.

The previous search provider, the open source Apache Lucene, is still available (and indeed the default) for sites with lower traffic.

Ucommerce quotes much reduced elapsed time to index product data in Elasticsearch compared to Lucene and also faster query execution speed, with these advantages gaining the larger the quantity of data to be indexed.
